Nearly every kind of feedback – even if I agreed with it or not – has been a massive tool for me and my growth. I remember when I was working in a treatment center as a counsellor where we received feedback daily. I was in fear every day; however, this experience made me super humble and strong. I will never forget this experience, and I am thankful for it. The more we can understand feedback with an open mind, the more we’ll develop. When you learn to process feedback effectively, there will be no limit to your personal development.
Ask for feedback. Ask your friends that you can be vulnerable with to give you feedback. And remember to put yourself in their shoes as it can be very, very hard to provide feedback. Consider their perspective and how their role or relationship with you might be affecting what they say, and how you feel about it. Finally, remember that you don’t have to re-evaluate your entire life because of one person’s feedback in one area of your life.
